Dawki Travels - Hotels - Tour - Camping - Trekking Best Amazing Offers Amazuy: Dawki A small border town in the Jaintia Hills, Dawki and its famed river Umngot is a must visit if in Meghalaya. Sandwiched between India and Bangladesh, Dauki is a major center of trade between India and Bangladesh. The small city, besides being a trade hub is also famous for its tourism scene, with many people flocking to the city in order experience a boat ride in its famed Umngot River and enjoy the nearby sights and sounds

Dawki Tourism” The city becomes a hotbed of tourist activities especially during the spring months as it hosts the boat riding competition on the Umngot River. The surrounding greenery, the cold water of the river and the beautiful suspension bridge on the River Umngot make Dauki a place worth a visit.

You can also enjoy swimming, boating, kayaking, snorkelling, cliff jumping, fishing and trekking. Camping in Dawki, Shnongpdeng is one of the best in India.

Further up the river, the riverbank full of naturally chiseled round and shapely pebbles were inviting me to take a stroll on them. As I sat on a big one, dipping my feet in the cold water, I could not stop wondering at the purity of environment all around and its calming and refreshing effect on me.

Despite not wanting to leave that wonderful lap of nature, I suddenly remembered the small rustic open-air kitchen above. The lure of food to an empty stomach is seldom matched by any other calling in the world. The limited yet delectable Assamese thali, consisting fish curry, vegetables, daal and rice, completely satiated the soul and I bid Dawki and Umngot adieu to feast my eyes on other beautiful places in the state.
